Feasibility and Sustainable Performance of RAP Mixtures with Low-Viscosity Binder and Castor Wax–Corn Oil Rejuvenators

The utilization of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) mixtures in pavement construction is an environmentally friendly approach that promotes sustainable development by reducing energy consumption and material waste. However, the high cost conventional rejuvenators limits widespread use RAP mixtures. In this study, a novel proposed to enhance performance incorporating combination high-penetration asphalt binder rejuvenators, namely Castor wax Corn oil. newly developed rejuvenator consists 8.5% oil, 3% fatty acid amine surfactant, 0.2% additive, 79.8% water. test results demonstrate modified mixture exhibits superior properties compared with Multiple Stress Creep Recovery showed 20% reduction cumulative strain rate for new ones. Furthermore, Tensile Strength Ratio indicated notable 9.47% improvement rejuvenated mixture’s resistance moisture-induced damage mixture. Evaluation viscoelastic behaviors revealed slight dynamic modulus binder, but significant elastic behavior. terms rutting resistance, Hamburg wheel tracking rut depths were significantly lower, representing reductions 21.83% specific compositions. Additionally, absence stripping phenomenon further confirmed moisture exhibited remarkable 28.55% increase fatigue load cycles failure reference demonstrating substantial cracking. These quantitative comparisons not only confirm over mixtures, also highlight potential savings achieved through oil rejuvenators.
